South African cheetah dies, 2nd loss in Kuno in a month

In a major setback to India’s ambitious cheetah reintroduction project, one of the 12 cheetahs airlifted from South Africa to Kuno National Park in Madhya Pradesh died of a mysterious ailment on Sunday evening. Cheetah Uday — a wild male captured close to the Matlabas River in the Waterberg region of South Africa — was around six years old. It was translocated in a batch of 12 on February 18.
